Stress Treatment

Stress is discussed in many different ways.  What it does to us physically, mentally, and emotionally should make it the number one crime of the century.  All I know is that it should be rightfully blamed for most ailments in our lives.

When we reach the end of our last nerve, our blood pressure gets too high.  Our faces turn red and normally everyone around us runs for cover.  In turn, our sugar levels change and our alternate personality (that we didn’t know we had or even know how to control) surfaces. We’re fast approaching the unhealthy danger zone.

Stress Treatment Is Necessary.

We make our way to our primary care doctor to access the damage and look for a quick way to return to what we consider is normal.  The problem is that the symptoms we discuss warrant us leaving the office with multiple prescriptions in hand.  This only proceeds to scare us and lead us down the road of multiple side effects. Did our doctor even listen to our problem or just access the symptoms?  Why do I feel worse taking these meds? Is there anything else I can do?  Am I doomed to feel like this for the rest of my life?  Now the stress seems worse!

What Stress Treatments Can We Do On Our Own?

We can put the brakes on once we have been accessed.  If there is nothing in immediate need of repair, we can take responsibility for our actions.  It’s time to re-assess what we are doing in our lives.

Take a sincere look at what we eat.  How much sleep are we getting and is it quality?  Are we getting sufficient exercise on a regular basis?  How much joy is in our lives?  What are you doing for fun?  Do you even like your choice of Career or is it just a job?  Are you happy with yourself?

If you can answer positively to any of the above immediately, you are headed on the right road.  No matter how many doctors you see, it is still up to you to alter your lifestyle to improve your health.

My Favorite Stress Treatments.

Yoga helps to balance my body and calm my mind on a daily basis.  I also do aerobics, strength training and balance exercises.
My supplemental program works to rebuild and support my weakest nutritional deficiencies.
I consume a higher protein, lower carbohydrate and (mostly) Gluten Free diet.
I use subliminal and meditation programs regularly.
I play affirmation CD’s in my car whenever I’m alone.
I work on my joy list often and I can name 100 plus things that I enjoy doing.  Can you even name five?
I have a great team to help keep tabs on my medical  and physical health numbers.   My Anti Aging Doctor is my number one along with  my PCP (Primary Care Doc), Cardiologist, Dentist, Massage Therapist and Energy Worker.
I also have the Physical and Mental help of those that keep my stress levels to a minimum such as an Accountant, Prosperity Coach, Banker, Hairdresser, Nail Tech and favorite restaurants with great service.
I utilize the Alpha LED and Spa Feng Shui beds for massage benefits, Alpha LED Light Therapy for muscle tension,  relaxation, stress relief and Natural Cleansing through heat and steam.  As well as Facials.
I spend time with my family and friends that bring me joy…especially my grandchildren!

Some of the best advice I have ever received or given out is to try to stay in the present moment.  Let the past go and learn to live now.  Pay attention to what makes you happy because the happier you are the healthier you become.  It takes a little effort but it is well worth it.

Learn to make yourself your favorite hobby.  Pay attention to your likes, dislikes and what stirs your heart to beat at the right rhythm.  Enjoy life and become the healthy person you were meant to be.  Create your own stress treatments and make your health produce a quality life.

WeDoRecover Drug Addiction Treatment

Drug addiction is a condition which is widely misunderstood in society today. The effects of substance abuse are far reaching, impacting negatively on not only the addict, and all those close to them too.

Because addiction begins with a choice to pick up the substance, most people blame drug users completely for their condition and show very little empathy, which adds to the stigma and compounds the problem.

What may have begun as a bad choice can escalates into a vicious downward spiral of loss of control of the substances the person’s addicted to, until the drug addict cannot break free, but needs professional help and support to break out of the cycle.

It becomes almost impossible to simply give up drugs and both professional drug addiction treatment and community support may be necessary.

Why Do Drug Addicts Keep Using Drugs?

Most individuals who become addicted to drugs believe in the beginning of their drug using careers that they can give it up at any time. Most often they’ll attempt to give up on their own without getting professional help and drug addiction treatment.

Some may find a measure of success, however many people fail to reach long term recovery. Substance abuse which has been ongoing generally results in the brain altering to new patterns which continue even after the person stops using drugs.

The changes in the brain can result in behavioural consequences, such as a loss of control of drug use even in the face of the negative effects.

Intense cravings for drugs can be triggered from things like work related stress, family issues, mental illness, pain caused by medical problems, old friends from drug using days, and environmental reminders of drug abuse. (places, smells, objects, etc.) Sometimes the individual is not even consciously aware of the trigger.

It is advisable for an addict to consider treatment for giving up drugs. Help is available and participation in treatment is beneficial to recovery in addicts, even severely addicted people.

Drug Addiction Treatment

Drug addiction treatment depends on the type of drugs being used, the length of time they have been used and the characteristic of the addict. The best treatment usually has a mix of treatments and services. The purpose of the treatment is to help those who are addicted to stop their lifestyle of drug abuse.

Treatment can take place in different settings and forms and it can be done over different lengths of time. The best treatment is that which is developed individually for a person. Addiction is prone to relapse, so treatment should be long term and have follow up group support when it is completed.

Drug addiction treatment which is most effective usually combines behavioural therapies (individual and group therapy) and medication which is monitored by medical staff trained in substance abuse. Many drug addicts also suffer from other health problems and have issues to deal with regarding family, work and social problems. All of these also need to be addressed during treatment.

Different medications help to ease the patient through withdrawal of different substances. These need to be monitored by professionals as most drug addicts use more than one substance. Sometimes antidepressants or other such medications need to be administered as well.

Along with the medication, therapy is essential to help people with motivation and to teach ways to cope with cravings. Therapy also guides patients on how to avoid future drug use and prevent relapse or deal with relapse if it happens. Therapy also deals with all the relational dynamics which the person deals with in life including family, friends and work colleagues. A combination of group therapy and individual therapy is usually effective.

Is Drug Addiction Treatment Effective?

The purpose of drug addiction treatment is for the patient to change their lifestyle of substance abuse and return to productive functioning in society. Research has shown that most people who receive long term treatment for drug addiction recover and fit back into society in an improved way. Individual treatment, however, depends on the severity of the addiction, the appropriateness of the treatment and the relationship between the patient and the treatment centre staff. With regard to relapse, drug addiction relapse follows a similar pattern to that of other chronic disorders like diabetes, asthma and hypertension.

Drug addiction should also be seen as a chronic disorder, like diabetes, which can be managed successfully. Treatment deals with the effects of drug abuse on the brain and allows the patient to return to a productive drug-free lifestyle. Of course, relapse is always a possibility, as with most chronic disorders, however it does not mean that treatment was a failure. Successful treatment generally requires continual monitoring and modification, where necessary.

Drug addiction treatment is the best way to reach recovery and improve the lifestyles of addicts and all those close to them. The ideal scenario would be where society supports the recovering addicts and the general negative mindset of the public changes to one of understanding and empathy, seeing addiction as a chronic disorder which needs treatment.

The Common Problems Associated With The Addiction Treatment Program In Montana

There are various centers in Montana that offer a neatly planned addiction treatment program, whatever the kind of addiction may be. But there are some common problems faced by all these treatment centers in order to help their patients come out of addiction. The two biggest problems that make the success rate of the addiction program in Montana go down are denial and codependency.

But the state substance abuse authorities are carrying out various actions and programs to fight with these two things. It is much necessary to know denial and codependency factors so as to understand the problems faced by the treatment centers in Montana.

The Problem Number 1: Denial

The number of addicts is going up but the number of patients getting admitted to the treatment centers in Montana is still low. This shows that they are many addicts who are still denying that they need any treatment. This is a very common problem that the addiction programs are facing in each and every state of America. Denial is a phase where the addict refuses to take a treatment and unless and until he or she overcomes this phase it is very difficult for the treatment program to work effectively.

Most of the addicts who are in denial mode are unaware about the dangers of their addiction and according to them they are not doing anything wrong for others so they want everyone else to just leave them alone. Such addicts will think that they are in their limits and don’t need any treatment.

Their families are most of the time unaware about their loved one’s addiction habits and thus there is no one to force them or convince them to join a treatment program. Some of the addict’s even neglect the constant pestering of their family members for joining an addiction treatment. Thus the addict is going deeper into their addiction.

If you are also finding it difficult to convince your loved one who is into addiction, to take a treatment, then best way is to take help from an intervention of an addiction treatment program in Montana. Intervention program has many responsibilities and their one important responsibility is to help addicts to come out of their denial mode and join a treatment program. The intervention program along with the group formed by family and friends of the addict will make a plan to motivate and encourage the addict to join a treatment program.

The denial phase will surely pass with all these efforts and the patient will readily join a treatment program in Montana and will surely come out of their addiction.

The Problem Number 2: Codependency

Codependency is the second hurdle why addicts are not joining the treatment programs for getting out of addiction. The main cause of this problem is the family of the addict and the family’s behavior towards the addict. Many times the family of the addict tries to put a cover over the addiction of their loved one. The family members do this out of love for the addict but this makes the addict think that they can do whatever and have any kind of addiction still they will be loved.

This makes the addict more confident into their addiction habits and pushes the addicts to do the addiction without any fear. This type of codependency is very risky for the addict’s life. Thus in a way the family is pushing their loved one into deeper addiction and before they will realize it, it will become too late to act.

There are other kinds of families too. These families will have fights and arguments, as they dislike their loved one getting addicted to some substance. The fights and abuses will make the addict feel unloved and uncared. This will make the addict stressed out and out of sadness they will start consuming the addictive substance in greater quantities and in large number.

The codependency problem is the major block in the success of the treatment program in Montana. This problem is tackled by giving out proper counseling to the families of the addict. This way the families will be told what they should do and how they should behave with the addict in order to help the addict join a treatment program.

The counseling will help the families and give them various ways which they can try to make their loved one who are in an addiction to understand the seriousness of their condition and take up an addiction treatment program in Montana as soon as possible.

Difference between Inpatient And Outpatient Program For Addiction Treatment In Alabama

There are two main types of programs for addiction treatment in Alabama. The inpatient treatment program and the outpatient treatment program are the two options, which an addict can select to get treatment for his or her addiction. The addicts and their families get really very confused when it comes to selecting the correct options out of these two. There are few differences in the way both the forms of addiction treatment in Alabama are carried out.

Before seeing the differences between the inpatient and outpatient treatment program in Alabama, it will better to see what similarities between these two are. Both these treatment program give proper counseling to the addicts and their family to guide them about the various aspects of the addiction. Both these programs also educate the addict and their families through individual and group therapies.

The major difference between inpatient and outpatient treatment program in Alabama is about the location where the treatment program gets carried out. The addicts who choose an inpatient treatment program have to stay in the treatment center in Alabama and he or she will have to stay there till they come out of their addiction. In outpatient treatment program the addict will have to attend the treatment center whenever they will be called. Once the inpatient treatment program gets over (it may last three to six weeks) the patient will be also asked to take an outpatient treatment program.

The patients will be allowed to stay at their home if they choose to take an outpatient treatment program. It is helpful for those patients who cannot take leave from work and has to attend work while taking the treatment. This is the reason more than 80% of the people go for outpatient treatment program in Alabama. There are other several advantages of taking outpatient treatment program.

1. The patient can do their work without taking a break from work.

2. The patient can take treatment by paying less money, as the inpatient treatment programs are quite expensive.

3. The patients can see their family and hence feels comfortable while undergoing the treatment.

4. The family of the patient can also be helpful by seeing that the patient attends the treatment programs whenever called by the treatment center.

There are some people who think that the addiction can be control only if the addict stays in the center. That is why the number of people going for inpatient addiction treatment in Alabama is also quite a lot. There are some advantages of taking the treatment from an inpatient treatment program.

1. The patient gets immediate medical facilities in case he or she faces any minor or major health troubles.

2. The patient gets professional care and guidance, as there are qualified people in the treatment center to look after him or her.

3. The severe addiction problems will not be treated by outpatient treatment program. Hence all such addicts who are deeply into addiction take treatment in inpatient treatment program.

The outpatient treatment program in Alabama is a best option for those who are in mild forms of addiction. The outpatient addiction treatment in Alabama is a mild kind of treatment. There will be no need for the addict to stay away from the family and friends while taking the treatment. The patients of outpatient treatment program will need to visit the treatment center in Alabama about three to four times in a week.

The outpatient treatment program focuses on counseling treatment and while for those who are into severe addiction urgent medical treatment is needed. Hence for all those who are into major kind of addiction, inpatient treatment program is the only option. Also all those who have some physical and mental conditions cannot do well with outpatient treatment program. It is better all such addicts choose inpatient treatment program and takes proper medical help without any further delay.

In any case taking a treatment for the addiction is a must. If the addict and his or her family will keep on denying the addiction then they will have to see major consequences in latter life. It is very important to take proper counseling before choosing the right kind of treatment program. If the addict is not agreeing to take a treatment program then the family can take help of the intervention program given by the treatment center in Alabama. Intervention program will also help you in deciding the proper kind of treatment option and will also help you to get admission to the desired treatment program.

How Does Residential Addiction Treatment In Massachusetts Work

Out of the various programs for addiction treatment in Massachusetts, the residential treatment program is indubitably the most elaborate treatment program. This program is mainly targeted at people who are in severe conditions of addiction; those that are not expected to ever be treated from their condition. But the program tries its sincere best to make these people come out of the addiction in the most effective way possible. Here we see some points that indicate why the residential treatment program in Massachusetts is called as one of the most comprehensive forms of treatment in the state.

Who does Residential Addiction Treatment in Massachusetts target?

As already mentioned, residential treatment is for people who are in seemingly irretrievable conditions of substance abuse and addiction. The following is a list of the people whom this form of treatment helps:-

1. People who have used the substance for several years will find this program very effective because the rigid methods used here will help them overcome what seems to be a point of no return in their addiction.

2. People who have some health complication or a psychiatric condition that is making their addiction treatment difficult will also find the benefits of such a program. Residential addiction treatment in Massachusetts also incorporates a detox program and a dual diagnosis treatment program, both of which can help these people to come out of their addiction quite effectively and also find a solution to their coexisting ailments.

3. People who have been apprehended of some drug or alcohol related offense will be ordered by drug courts in Massachusetts to complete an addiction treatment program, which will mostly be required to be completed in a residential treatment center. This is where they will be trained in giving up the addiction for their own good and for the good of the society they live in. It must be noted that these people would not have accepted any treatment if they were not forced by the drug court. In this manner, the drug courts are collaborating with the residential treatment centers to fight the addiction problem.

4. People who have tried other methods of addiction treatment and failed can try residential addiction treatment in Massachusetts as the last option. It is also the treatment option that will really work for their condition.

What does Residential Addiction Treatment in Massachusetts entail?

It is necessary to know now how the residential treatment program works. Basically, there are three main phases of the program.

1. Intervention – This is the part of the program where the patient is helped to understand the extent of the problem they are facing and that they require treatment. Most people who are into an addiction will not want to accept any method of treatment. But a suitable intervention program helps them to understand what the situation is really like. The first part of the residential addiction treatment program in Massachusetts is about this. During this phase, the treatment center might take the help of the family and friends of the patient in order to better convince them to get into the treatment.

2. Detoxification – Detoxification becomes necessary since the patients coming into these programs are into the addiction since a long period of time. Detox treatment in a residential treatment center in Massachusetts will also go longer than the normal detox treatment for this reason. It will require special care and counseling even as it is going on because people who are into severe forms of addictions need more support during the difficult detox period. There can be no residential addiction treatment in Massachusetts that does not include the detox program because without removing the addictive substance from the body of the person, it is impossible to remove the cravings of the substance that the person has. In other words, the treatment of the addiction becomes impossible.

3. Aftercare – The aftercare treatment is the most prolonged phase of addiction treatment in a residential center. The basic purpose of the aftercare is to counsel and educate the patient on the addiction and to make them know methods in which they can stay away from the cravings. This can take a long time because patients won’t be spontaneously ready to give up their dependencies. During this part of the treatment, patients are taught methods such as Yoga, breathing exercises, relaxation methods and various other therapies that can help them curb the temptation for the substance whenever it occurs. In some treatment centers, families are also counseled on how they can cope with the condition.

Not Just in the Mind: Depression Treatment

Not Just in the Mind: Depression Treatment

“Regarding focusing on the good things, when you are depressed it is impossible to do. Yes, you can make an effort and think about them but it doesn’t affect the mood/feelings. That is the nature of depression, it is beyond feeling ‘fed up’ and really all you can do is go with it.” – Victoria, a bi-polar disorder sufferer.

Those who suffer from long-term depression instinctively know when their “black mood” is about to descend upon them, and know that bouts of depression can appear for almost no reason. But does this mean that all they can do is “go with it”? Depression is certainly more than just “feeling down” every now and again. It is a disease; and like any disease, treatment is available.

Know the Enemy

Depression is a medical condition brought about by a chemical imbalance in the body and, once diagnosed by a certified physician, depression treatment is needed to help a person overcome the condition.

Depression symptoms include changes in activity or energy level, unexplained aches and pains, prolonged sadness, difficult moods and, in extreme cases, a preoccupation with death. If any one or a combination of two or more of these symptoms is present, your physician will probably recommend a course of depression treatment.

Medical Treatment of Depression?

The treatment of depression could involve medication to restore the chemical balance in the body. The problem with this kind of depression treatment, however, is that recent studies have confirmed that some common anti-depressant drugs run the risk of fragile bones in older patients. What these drugs have been found to do is to affect the cells from the bone – the osteoblasts – resulting in brittle bones. A research study on a group of Canadian over-50s found that those on depression drugs had a 4% lower bone density at the hip than the rest. The threat of fractures was also doubled. Most drugs have their side-effects, but when the side-effects are so severe, it is no wonder many people are seeking natural alternatives to conventional depression treatment.

Or the Natural Way?

Depression is known to be caused by deficiencies in magnesium as well as folate, and so most depression treatment is aimed at increasing these mineral levels in the body. In addition, excessive consumption of narcotic substances and alcohol are believed to contribute to the onset of depression. Therefore a natural depression treatment regimen should remove these harmful substances from the diet while including more magnesium and B vitamins. A daily dose of additional vitamin supplements can help bridge the gap where our modern diet fails us. Studies show that Omega-3 contributes greatly towards the feel-good factor and, along with amino acids and complex carbohydrates, should also be included in the diet as part of depression treatment.

In elderly people, improper absorption of necessary minerals and vitamins is a possible cause of depression and mood swings. Depression treatment in these cases is aimed at ensuring the required intake of mineral and vitamin supplements is obtained.

In addition to diet, regular exercise and relaxation techniques are invaluable in depression treatment. Endorphins, released in the brain during any physical activity, help to have a better, happier frame of mind. Relaxation and meditation also form an integral part of depression treatment as it relieves stress and calms the mind, making you feel more positive. Deep breathing is an anytime, anywhere, easy-to-do activity that enhances depression treatment.

Complete Healing

So far, it is clear that depression treatment should be holistic, and not just rely on wonder drugs or miracle cures.

Holistic, natural, depression treatment advocates a complete change of lifestyle to a wholesome, nutritious diet and a stress free, drug-free life style. To re-cap:

1. Cut out alcohol and narcotics, which can contribute towards depression.

2. Restore the natural, chemical balance, through a diet rich in minerals and vitamins and by avoiding over-processed foods.

3. Top-up any vitamins and minerals not found in the diet through supplementation.

4. Use exercise and relaxation techniques to aid the treatment of depression.

It is very easy for sufferers to fall into the trap of believing that depression is a natural part of who they are. It isn’t! Depression is more often than not caused by a chemical imbalance causing the body to be in a less than perfect, un-natural, state. That is why the natural treatment of depression is the best way to keep the black dog off your shoulder

How Can Addiction Treatment Centers Help?

Choosing from the Many Addiction Treatment Centers

It is a well-known fact that not only the mental part of the addiction needs to be taken care of but the physical part does as well.

If you have to decide whether or not to enroll in an addiction treatment center, it is one of the hardest decisions you will ever have to make. There are many places to find an addiction treatment center and it can be as simple as turning on the television. There are ads, radio advertisements, websites, and even the local phone book has some full page ads for these companies that all claim to be the best. No wonder the decision is so difficult to make.

A great way to do this is through therapy.

Depression treatment with medication does not always work with the first medication that is given. People will have different responses to different medications. There is no magical pill that works for everyone and for each level of depression. What is common about depression treatment that involves the use of medication is that it takes a few weeks for the medication o take effect.

This means the person may not see immediate relief. This is important for people to understand or they may discontinue their depression treatment before it has had a chance to work. If after a few weeks you find that a particular medication is not bringing relief the doctor will either up the dosage or prescribe a different medication. This process can continue until the individual is matched with a medication that works.

It is important that patients work closely with their physicians until a medication match is found. Remember, using medication as a depression treatment means that moods and feelings will change slowly. However, some symptoms may lessen early on such as improvement in sleeping and eating. Patients who have no relief after taking a medication for six weeks are generally given another medication.
